Werken in de farmaceutische industrie, of kortweg farma zoals we onze branche intern vaak noemen: wat houdt dat in, waarom zou je dat doen en hoe kom je op een leuke plek die aansluit bij je opleiding als apotheker? Tijdens mijn workshop vertel ik je over de keuzes die ik tijdens en na mijn studie farmacie in Utrecht heb gemaakt waardoor ik nu als Medical Adviser werk bij Novartis. Dagelijks werk ik samen met collega’s in ons Disease Team aan de verbetering van farmaceutische zorg voor patienten met borstkanker. Dit doen we door geneesmiddelen te onderzoeken en ontwikkelen om die vervolgens op de markt te brengen en te zorgen voor goede informatie over onze geneesmiddelen voor artsen, verpleegkundigen en patienten. Hiermee beogen we om de levens van patienten te verbeteren en te verlengen. Mijn persoonlijke drijfveer is de vertaling van innovatie en wetenschap naar de klinische praktijk. Meer weten? The pharmaceutical industry – a translation of science to clinical practice

Working in the pharmaceutical industry, or pharma for short, as we often call our industry internally: what does that mean, why would you do it and how do you find a nice place that matches your training as a pharmacist? During my workshop I will tell you about the choices I made during and after my pharmacy studies in Utrecht, which led to my job as a Medical Adviser at Novartis. Every day I work together with colleagues in our Disease Team to improve pharmaceutical care for patients with breast cancer. We do this by researching and developing medicines for marketing and by providing good information about our medicines for doctors, nurses and patients. With this we aim to improve and extend the lives of patients. My personal drive is the translation of innovation and science into clinical practice. Do you want to know more? Come to my workshop!
